The filer supports full drag-and-drop. See the Archive page for some screenshots showing a
directory being archived to a zip disk using drag-and-drop.
There are several toolbar styles available.
All configuration is done from the Options box...
Available in Chinese, Danish, Dutch, English, French, German,
Hungarian, Japanese, Norwegian, Italian, Polish, Russian, Spanish and
Swedish...
This is the new panel. It works just like the pinboard - files,
directories and applications can be dropped onto the bar to add
them. You can open them just by clicking on them. You can also drag
files onto the icons to load them. Right-clicking gives you a menu.
It is also possible to drag applets onto the panel, such as the
load monitor and the pager shown here.
If we click on the 'Apps' icon then a directory opens. I keep
most of my applications in here, but I have a subdirectory for
graphics programs...
Clicking on an application directory loads the application.
Clicking with Shift held down opens it just like a normal
directory.
All ROX applications' preferences are stored in your Choices
directory. The filer looks for choices in /usr/share/Choices,
/usr/local/share/Choices and Choices in your home directory. This
allows a system administrator to set up choices which override
distribution-set choices. Individual users can then override these
settings themselves. Just drag a file onto Edit to load it...
Edit loads and displays the file. While we're here, let's create a
new file to show off the saving system. We create a new file and
save it by opening the save box, entering a filename and then
simply dragging the icon to a directory.
You can perform many actions on files. This window is used to
change file permissions. You can either select one of the preset
operations from a menu or enter your own in standard chmod(1)
syntax.
This is the
/mnt directory. The strange symbols above the
directory icons indicate that these are mount points. `Zip' is
mounted (that is, the directory structure on the Zip disk appears
as if it was inside this directory). The other two aren't.
Ah, time to log out. This is the Gtk+-2.0 version of ROX-Session,
which lets you control things like the default font, double-click
time and so on.
